For further development I choose to expand on concept two. I decided to use concept two because I felt that it was my strongest concept, but also that it needed a couple of additions and alterations to become even stronger. One of the big additions I made was adding an Archgola over the deck on the roof. I did this because having an exposed deck on a roof I realized might not be practical (especially where it will be located)

but I still wanted to have it so I added the Archgola to stop the majority of rainfall from getting to the deck. I also have a small gap between the bottom of the glass balustrade to let what water does get onto the deck off it. A feature and functionality combined that I also added was the long window on the side of the house that follows the stairs up to the second level. This adds light for the ground level, the stairway and the second level (if the door is open) and and feature to the outside of the house. I realized when looking at my original concept for this that having the raw container as the cladding for the standing up container (and even the lying down one because of the roof extension) wouldn't work as containers don't have their groves going in that direction. So for my further development I corrected this by instead using squared corrugated iron over top of the container (to look like the container) because as there are extensions for roof space this is the easiest way to cover this (as well as the groves of the standing up container not being vertical). On the second story I have, like in the original concept, staggered the corrugated iron with radiata pine cladding from where the roof extension starts going all the way down to roof level of the ground level container for some aesthetic flair that gives it a modern look. I also added a wood burner as my stakeholder showed interest in this, as well as more storage. A final major addition is adding a second deck this one at ground level to give more indoor/outdoor flow as well as giving an outdoor eating space with room for a BBQ. For sustainability, like in the original concept, I will use recycled materials for as much of the build as possible as well as the containers themselves being second hand. One thing I changed for sustainability from the original concept was moving from solar panels to solar roofing tiles. I choose to do this as it gives a sleeker look not having any solar panels on the roof but still gives you the solar power.
